SEOUL, South Korea — April 28, 2025 — Quantum computing firm Orientum and KB Kookmin Bank have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to accelerate innovation in financial services and strengthen their global technology competitiveness.
The agreement outlines plans for a broad collaboration that includes developing quantum-based financial algorithms, advancing next-generation security technologies, and creating financial simulations. The two companies also aim to foster talent through joint education programs and seminars focused on the intersection of finance and quantum technology.
Key executives from both companies attended the signing ceremony. Orientum CEO Seung-Hyun Bang and KB Kookmin Bank’s Executive Director of the Information Security Division, Jae-Yong Lee, emphasized the importance of this partnership in shaping the future of finance.
Under the agreement, the partners will focus on four main areas:
- Analyzing financial data and creating quantum-based financial algorithms
- Developing next-generation security solutions, including quantum encryption
- Building financial simulations and derivatives models using quantum computing
- Running joint training programs to develop skilled professionals in quantum finance
Both firms committed to accelerating the development and commercialization of quantum-powered financial services. They plan to launch joint proof-of-concept projects and engage in regular technology exchanges.
